He has been a contributing editor for FibreSystems Europe and since 2006 he has been an analyst and then a consultant at LightCounting. Previously, he was a senior analyst at RHK Inc. covering optical components and communications

Rubenstein has undertaken projects with market research firms Ovum, CIR, Heavy Reading, and Informa T&M, and contributed monthly technology trend articles for the London-based magazine, Total Telecom, and semiconductor articles for the UK electronics design magazine, New Electronics.
